Overview
Chicken Nation is a fast food chain based in Abidjan. As part of a mission within the L'Union Lab studio startup, I contributed to the backend and backoffice of an ERP covering orders, loyalty, marketing, payments, notifications and support. The system feeds a 3rd-placed React Native mobile app on the Ivorian App Store, with more than 5,000 active users in 4 restaurants.
The Challenge
Build a backend capable of managing simultaneous commands in real time at several restaurants, while avoiding duplicate support tickets and ensuring the synchronization of states between branches. Competition, tail reliability and real-time consistency were the main technical challenges.
The Approach
NestJS modular architecture (monorepo) with 20+ modules with clear responsibilities. BullMQ + Redis for managing and distributing support tickets, with Redis cache on frequent data. Socket.io for real time order tracking and messaging. OneSignal + push campaigns for customer retention. Backoffice in Next.js.
